For Adoption: Andy

Andy is an older dog, probably around 16, who survived the passing of his mom back in 2008. Since then, life hasn’t been easy with the surviving nephews and now he is with Northside Humane.

Andy probably won’t be around for many more years but he still has a lot of love left to give. You will come to respect his gentle and humble spirit, and how he quietly but enthusiastically loves you. He gets along well with people and other pets, and he loves to roam around outside, but would probably be happiest with a senior couple or similar laid-back situation.

For Adoption: Azalea

Azalea is a six month old Silver Tabby that was found living in a metal box behind a trailer park.

Northside was notified when a concerned resident spotted her and knew she wouldn’t survive the extreme August heat in Louisiana. We’re now seeking a home for this lovely cat!

Placed: Annie

We found Annie starving on the streets of Baton Rouge.

She found the strength to run to us when we called but looked more like a newborn colt with legs so weak they buckled underneath her as she ran.

Annie has been adopted into a wonderful home and looks like a different dog these days. You can now see life in her eyes! What a tremendous difference a new home can make!

For Adoption: Poopsie (Special Needs)

Poopsie was found in October, 2011, wandering in a field in the rain as the temperature started to drop.  She was half the size she should have been and her worn collar was hanging loosely around her neck from the weight she had lost. With hip bones and ribs protruding she still had the energy to run when we tried to catch her. When she finally gave in we took her to our shelter and took special care of this scared, starved puppy.

Poopsie has since started to trust people and now wags her tail. She’s even giving kisses! She can’t seem to get enough to eat since she was hungry for so long. Poopsie is a bit shy but has progressed by leaps and bounds in just a few months. She needs a family that will be gentle and love her to gain her full trust. Poopsie gets along well with other dogs and is fine with cats being around too.

Placed: Precious

Precious was born behind a grocery store to a feral cat.

Fortunately, she was caught at a young age and tamed so she could find a home and avoid a life on the street. She has now been placed in a loving home.

For Adoption: Clyde

Clyde is a six-month-old German wirehaired pointer mix.

This sweet, fun loving pup loves to play with his doggie friends at the shelter and gets along well with cats too.

Since he will eventually grow to be a large dog, his forever home will need a fenced in yard so he has room to run.
